Covenant House DC Hosts Virtual Charity Event

On Thursday, June 18, 2020 the Covenant House of Greater Washington hosted their 25th Anniversary via Zoom. For over 25 years, the Covenant House has lead the DC area as a non-profit; using the money they are able to raise, the Covenant House helps to transform the lives of underpriviledged youth between the ages of 18-24. Capitol Petroleum Group is always looking for ways to give back to the community and are excited to be annual sponsors to the organization-- this year, CPG is thrilled to be a Silver Sponsor for the organization. This year's event was held on Zoom and featured many familiar faces to the DC region, including former Mayor Vincent Gray, current Mayor Muriel Bowser, Joe Clair from WPGC 95.5, and many members of the community who have been positively impacted by the Covenant House. There was even a few musical arrangements made by Gospel vocalist Vanessa Williams to keep the mood light. The money that CHGW raises is able to help provide housing, education, mental health support, and workforce readiness to youth experiencing homelessness and exploitation. The First American Heart Association Zoom Golf Invitational

As a result of COVID-19, the American Heart Association took their popular annual golf tournament to a virtual course. CPG was proud to sponsor this event for the 6th year in a row. Traditionally, some of our CPG golf enthusiasts set out to tee of in the name of charity. This year, as we are all practicing social distancing, outdoor golf is inacessable. However, the AHA used this golf time to educate on how Coronavirus affects the heart and those with heart issues. There were a number of doctors from various hospitals across the United States who shared their stories as well as helpful tips with us. Between presentations, there was even a golf coach to share some great at home exercises to improve your game!  If you would like to donate to the American Heart Association, please go to this link.

Capitol Petroleum Group Sponsors NICU Training at Howard University Hospital

This fall, after being a long-time fundraiser and walk team organizer at the annual March for Babies walk, Capitol Petroleum Group, expanded their involvement in a new way to support other March of Dimes's initiatives by sponsoring a NICU Training Day. CPG selected Howard University Hospital as it's hospital of choice for this training opportunity. In collaboration with the March of Dimes, we hosted this event on October 25th for hospital staff and current medical school students. The event was held in the Tower Auditorium and had nearly forty attendees, with training led by an experienced NICU educator and nurse. Following the training, CPG received a brief tour of the NICU floor at Howard University Hospital and met the wonderful and incredibly hardworking staff of doctors, nurses, and administrators. It was a rewarding experience to see how March of Dimes supports hospitals in the area and the important life-saving work Howard University's NICU medical team does with babies and their families. To learn how you can support, please visit their websites here:  March of Dimes and Howard University Hospital.
